Subway takes animal welfare seriously and we understand how important this issue is for our guests. We are scoping out a feasibility study in relation to broiler welfare as to explore the best ways in which we can continue strengthening our approach to animal welfare in our supply chain. Today, all suppliers and their producers must, as a minimum, comply with EU animal welfare legislation and support the principles of the globally recognised Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC) Five Freedoms.

We are currently working actively to understand the implications of the European Chicken Commitment, and how this would affect the quality and price of chicken that we are able to offer our guests. When we have clear conclusions, we will share them and take appropriate action.

The Provolone, Pepperjack, Shredded Monterey Cheddar, Feta, Parmesan, Cheddar, Mozzarella and Swiss contain only plant or microbial derived rennin. The bulk of the rennin in the American cheese is microbial, however there could be a chance of calf rennin in the cheese due to production variables.

All of the core menu items are free of artificial trans fat (partially hydrogenated oil). A few menu items contain small amounts of naturally occurring trans fat, found in meats and dairy.
